Job Title: Habilitation Training Specialist

At Home of Hope, Inc., we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Habilitation Training Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our support staff, you will play a vital role in empowering individuals with disabilities to achieve their full potential.

Job Summary:

The Habilitation Training Specialist will provide support and guidance to individuals with disabilities in various areas, including daily living skills, leisure activities, personal hygiene, vocational skills, and social skills. This role requires a strong commitment to promoting independence, self-determination, and inclusion.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Train and assist individuals with daily living skills, such as personal hygiene, meal planning, and household care.
  2. Coordinate and provide instruction in vocational skills, identifying areas where assisted techniques may be useful and developing natural supports to integrate individuals into the work environment.
  3. Assist individuals in achieving maximum potential toward self-determination, encouraging independence and inclusion regardless of community, social, or vocational circumstance.
  4. Work cooperatively with all employees, service providers, professionals, guardians, and families, representing Home of Hope, Inc. in a positive manner.
  5. Document and report any incidents, accidents, or medical issues that affect the health, welfare, or self-respect/dignity of individuals.
  6. Provide transportation to work, therapies, health appointments, leisure, or social activities using public transportation, Home of Hope, Inc. provided vehicles, or personal vehicle.
  7. Maintain the cleanliness and safety of environments for which you are responsible, reporting repair or maintenance needs to the House Manager or Program Coordinator.
  8. Maintain confidentiality of all information, oral or written, unless authorized to release information in accordance with applicable laws and policies.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalency; minimum age 18
  • No experience necessary
  • Criminal arrest checks will be conducted through the OSBI, and individuals with a felony conviction will not work for Home of Hope, Inc. without issuance of exception by the Oklahoma Department of Human Services
  • Working home phone or cell phone
  • Valid driver's license; current automotive insurance; dependable transportation; availability to operate vehicle during day/night
  • Flexibility for working a variety of shifts and locations
  • Must complete Home of Hope, Inc. First Aid/CPR Training, which includes full compressions on the floor or ground
  • Required pre-employment drug screen and subject to random, post-accident, and reasonable cause drug screens
  • Willingness to work schedules based on individual client needs and overtime as required
  • Expected to learn and follow the specific Individual Plan (IP) of each individual
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to lift 50-70 pounds with and/or without accommodation
  • Ability to push/pull 50 pounds
  • Ability to sit, stoop, or stand for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to walk at an efficient rate of speed
  • Good written and oral communication skills and ability to teach in a variety of settings
  • Mentally and physically capable to perform the duties of the position
  • Ability to understand oral and written instructions
  • Reliable motor skills-use of hands and feet
Compensation:

$12-$15 hourly wage
