Key Responsibilities:
Underwriting Duties
- Verify that the loan origination and processing comply with investor and organizational guidelines to facilitate the loan's progression to closing and funding.
- Engage with production staff to evaluate specific loan scenarios, ensuring alignment with GSE product descriptions and overlay requirements.
- Conduct thorough reviews of loan documentation, including income calculations, and possess a comprehensive understanding of intricate personal and business financials.
- Analyze essential loan documents such as credit reports, employment verifications, pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, appraisals, and all supplementary documentation.
- Assess mitigation factors to confirm that the collateral possesses adequate market value to secure the loan.
Compliance, Auditing & Reporting Responsibilities:
- Perform monthly reviews of a selection of real estate loans to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive Policies & Procedures.
- Evaluate Fair Credit Reporting Act procedures for compliance and accuracy concerning real estate loans.
- Examine forms and disclosures related to real estate loans for precision and compliance.
- Conduct periodic reviews of disclosures, adjustable-rate mortgages (ARMs), and applications.
- Assist in Fair Lending Reviews pertaining to real estate loans.
- Calculate various financial figures, including discounts, interest rates, APR, and debt-to-income ratios to ensure compliance.
- Complete necessary regulatory reporting.
- Review a sample of Adverse Action reports for all real estate secured loans on a monthly basis.
- Ensure compliance through system reviews, including correct coding and document control.
- Prepare analytical reports for reviews to identify patterns and potential violations.
- Review HMDA-LAR data in conjunction with loan evaluations and prepare corresponding HMDA reports.
- Support staff training initiatives and regularly update training materials to reflect compliance regulations.
- Provide guidance to the production department regarding real estate secured loans and serve as a resource for regulatory inquiries and updates.
- Review company policies and procedures for thoroughness and compliance.
- Adjust loan programs in response to market, regulatory, or organizational changes.
- Collaborate with management to maintain appropriate insurance coverage and manage ongoing risk assessments.
- Conduct vendor evaluations in partnership with management for new partnerships.
- Perform related duties as necessary.
