Job Summary and Qualifications
As a Registered Nurse (RN) in our Progressive Care Unit (PCU), you will support our 16-bed telemetry stepdown unit with a typical patient ratio of 1:4.
Our unit delivers high-acuity care to a diverse range of patients, including those recovering from GI Surgery, strokes, cardiac issues, neuro conditions, telemetry, post-surgical care, and those requiring drip medications for chest pain, among others.
In this role, you will provide both clinical and administrative support on the unit, collaborating closely with the clinical team to develop and implement individualized care plans that address each patient's needs.
You will also coordinate unit activities and ensure accountability for all assigned tasks.
Your primary responsibility in this position is to educate and instruct patients and their family members.
As a member of the PCU, you will administer all prescribed medications while adhering to the 5 rights of medication administration, change dressings, clean wounds, and monitor vital signs.
Our nursing team diligently monitors, records, and communicates patient conditions as appropriate, utilizing computerized documentation systems. You will serve as the primary coordinator for all disciplines involved in delivering well-coordinated patient care, including addressing discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
What qualifications you will need:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia or holds a Compact license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
