Adjunct Biology Instructor

Position Overview
The Adjunct Biology Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction to students enrolled in General Biology courses. This role involves facilitating student discussions, selecting appropriate laboratory activities, and assessing student performance based on established course outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver instruction in General Biology, specifically focusing on introductory courses, utilizing approved course outcome guides.
- Maintain a minimum of one scheduled office hour per class each week to provide academic support and guidance to students.
- Leverage college resources, including the Learning Management System and support services, to enhance teaching effectiveness.
- Engage in course assessment activities to ensure educational standards are met.
- Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned to support the objectives of the department.
Department Collaboration
Work in partnership with fellow instructors within the Science Department to develop and refine curricula, integrate innovative teaching methods, and ensure alignment with other program courses.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess the following:
- A Master’s Degree in Biology or a closely related field from an accredited institution, or at least 30 quarter hours (20 semester hours) of graduate coursework in Biology.
- A minimum of one year of successful teaching experience at the college level in the relevant subject area, or demonstrated potential for teaching excellence.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in teaching lower division college Biology courses is highly desirable.
