Job Title: Adjunct Faculty: Part-Time History Instructor

Job Summary:

Ivy Tech Community College is seeking a qualified Adjunct Faculty member to teach History courses on a part-time basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals and providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided.

Responsibilities:
  • Deliver assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
  • Make optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
  • Develop and maintain course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials.
  • Engage with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and lead to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College.
  • Monitor and document student performance throughout the semester, including the use of technology for academic advising alerts.
  • Provide necessary interventions, including communication with students, tutoring, and other academic supports.
  • Interact with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complying with College policies, campus guidelines, and expectations.
  • Ensure knowledge of and implement emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs, and all learning environments.
Requirements:
  • Must have a strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to the area of instruction.
  • Meet faculty credentials as outlined in the ASOM 7.1 for the specific area(s) of instruction.
  • Conduct all activities with an appreciation, respect, and promotion of diversity of people, styles, and views.
Discipline Standard:
  • Possess an earned master's or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution, in History.
  • Possess an earned master's or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution, in any field with 18 graduate semester hours in History.
Retention and Student Success:
  • Provide academic-related coaching and academic monitoring to assigned student advisees in partnership with professional academic advising staff.
  • Monitor and document student performance throughout the semester, including the use of technology for academic advising alerts.
  • Promote and assist in student recruitment, retention, and successful completion of programs.
  • Demonstrate the ability to promote an inclusive environment that reflects the broad diversity and backgrounds represented by our students and employees.
Starting Salary Range:

$45.50/contact hour
