Clinical Nursing Supervisor

The Clinical Nursing Supervisor serves as the primary clinical leader within the unit, overseeing staff management, patient flow, safety protocols, and resource allocation. This role emphasizes mentorship for nursing staff, particularly for new hires, and ensures the delivery of high-quality, compassionate care. Under the guidance of the Nurse Manager, the Supervisor is responsible for organizing training sessions and ongoing educational opportunities for clinical personnel as necessary. Participation in performance improvement initiatives is essential, including data collection for staff evaluations. The Supervisor must be prepared to work weekends and holidays based on unit requirements, with shifts potentially comprising 12-hour and/or 8-hour patterns to guarantee consistent leadership support throughout the week.
Key Responsibilities
The Clinical Nursing Supervisor is tasked with the following leadership and management functions:
- Directs unit operations, providing leadership for staffing and patient assignments while managing crisis situations effectively.
- Facilitates smooth patient transitions, ensuring timely admissions and discharges.
- Promotes a safe working environment by enforcing established protocols and procedures.
- Acts as a clinical resource for staff, particularly during complex patient care scenarios.
- Implements innovative techniques and programs aimed at enhancing patient care processes.
- Ensures appropriate care delivery by orienting staff according to Standards of Practice and reviewing clinical documentation for accuracy.
- Conducts regular rounds with patients, physicians, and staff, focusing on clinical safety, quality compliance, and overall satisfaction.
- Provides direct patient care as necessary.
- Maintains comprehensive records related to staff orientation and competency assessments.
- Adheres to departmental productivity and financial goals.
- Ensures compliance with all relevant policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates sound judgment and critical thinking in decision-making processes.
- Develops and evaluates in-service and orientation programs.
- Participates in performance improvement initiatives.
- Assesses and addresses personal professional development needs.
- Fosters effective interdepartmental relationships to achieve common objectives.

- Oversees orientation and training for new employees.

- Oversees daily operations to meet departmental objectives.
- Maintains performance metrics related to patient and employee satisfaction.
- Complies with all organizational policies and procedures.
- Adheres to behavioral standards that foster positive relationships with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Ensures safety for patients, visitors, and staff in all job functions.

Qualifications
Current RN license required. Minimum of one year of nursing experience required. Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a related field preferred. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Strong customer service skills, including effective listening, critical thinking, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in English is required.
