Position Overview:
As a Litigation Assistant, you will operate under general supervision, executing a variety of administrative tasks for attorneys and paralegals, ensuring the efficient operation of the Litigation Department. Your responsibilities will include managing e-billing for assigned attorneys, as well as handling court filings and docketing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft and transcribe legal documents, including correspondence, pleadings, and memoranda.
- Open and maintain new case files, conduct conflict checks, and manage file archiving.
- Establish and oversee calendar systems for case deadlines and meetings.
- Ensure timely recording of attorney time sheets and manage billing processes.
- Handle incoming and outgoing mail, ensuring proper organization and routing.
- Maintain confidentiality and positive communication with clients and staff.
- Perform administrative phone and email screening, greeting visitors as necessary.
- Collaborate with administrative support staff and undertake additional duties as assigned.
- This is a full-time position requiring 35 hours per week, with potential for overtime as needed.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of two years of experience in litigation administration or assistance, particularly in insurance defense.
- Familiarity with e-billing processes; experience with LEDES billing and Aderant is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication with diverse clients and staff.
- Willingness to accept additional responsibilities as required.
- Proficient in reading, writing, and typing in English for essential job functions.
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations for document verification.
