SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Lake Washington Institute of Technology (LWTech) is a distinguished public institute of technology established in 1949, located in Kirkland, WA. The institute is dedicated to providing a diverse range of programs, including those focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).

Situated near major tech companies, LWTech is committed to fostering cultural diversity and promoting equity and inclusion among its faculty and staff. With a student body of approximately 6,500 individuals from various backgrounds, the college emphasizes the importance of diversity and aims to enhance access and successful educational outcomes for all students.

LWTech is currently seeking qualified instructors for the Medical Assisting program. Candidates must possess a minimum of two years of relevant work experience, with preference given to those with college teaching experience and industry certifications. This recruitment effort aims to create a pool of applicants for future adjunct faculty openings, which are filled on a quarterly basis based on enrollment needs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Design and implement a variety of instructional objectives and experiences aligned with program goals.
  • Assess individual student learning needs and adapt teaching methods accordingly.
  • Deliver instruction in accordance with the approved curriculum objectives.
  • Facilitate lessons that promote cultural diversity and inclusivity.
  • Teach effective study skills to enhance student learning.
  • Establish classroom and laboratory procedures that comply with institutional policies.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress to meet institutional and accreditation standards.
  • Implement disciplinary procedures consistently and fairly.
  • Create tailored learning experiences for adult learners through various instructional methods.
  • Post course syllabi and student grades using the designated online course management system.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Current certification as a Medical Assistant or related credential.
  • Minimum of three years of professional experience in healthcare.
  • Proven ability to engage effectively with a diverse student population.
  • Recent experience in postsecondary or vocational education using varied instructional methods.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Experience in developing course curricula.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.
  • Multilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION

Compensation
Salary placement is determined based on an assessment of education and experience. Compensation for part-time faculty contracts is based on assigned credits, class type, and the current part-time faculty salary schedule.
