Heavy Duty Diesel Technician
About the Role:We are seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Diesel Technician to join our team at Performance Foodservice. As a critical member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe operation of our fleet by performing routine maintenance, repairs, and overhauling diesel equipment.
The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of experience in medium to heavy-duty vehicle repair, including preventative maintenance, tire and wheel, air and air disc brakes, diagnosis, computerized diagnostics, electrical troubleshooting, and electronic component repair.
In addition to your technical skills, you will possess excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to provide guidance and training to junior mechanics.
Job Responsibilities:- Perform routine maintenance on diesel equipment, including oil changes, brake system inspections, and wheel bearing checks
- Diagnose and repair complex issues with diesel engines, transmissions, and other critical systems
- Overhaul and rebuild heavy-duty diesel engines and transmissions
- Inspect and maintain all company fleet diesel equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards
- Train and guide junior mechanics to develop their skills and expertise
- 5-7 years of experience in medium to heavy-duty vehicle repair
- Proven track record of diagnosing and repairing complex issues with diesel engines and transmissions
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or higher preferred
- $36 per hour starting salary
- Shift differential for overnight hours
