We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Water Safety Specialist to join our team at the Addison Central School District. As a Water Safety Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of bathers at our public swimming pool.
Key Responsibilities- Stand watch or patrol the swimming pool area, maintaining a high level of vigilance to prevent accidents and respond promptly to emergencies.
- Apply resuscitation techniques and provide first aid as needed to ensure the health and safety of bathers.
- Instruct beginners in swimming techniques and provide guidance to improve their skills.
- Ensure the pool area is free of hazards and debris, maintaining a clean and safe environment for bathers.
- Enforce pool rules and regulations, maintaining order among swimmers and promoting a positive and respectful atmosphere.
- Good knowledge of first aid, lifesaving, and rescue work as applied to accidents in and around the water.
- Ability to swim well and demonstrate strong aquatic skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to deal effectively with the public and colleagues.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in emergency situations and react promptly to ensure the safety of bathers.
- Excellent observational skills, with the ability to detect potential hazards and take proactive measures to prevent accidents.
- Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond to emergencies.
- Current high school student or high school graduate.
- Possession of appropriate, valid American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, Standard First Aid, and CPR certificates.
