Job Title: Building Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Building Engineer to join our team at Avison Young. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for providing technical support and maintenance services for our commercial real estate establishments.

Responsibilities:
  • Repair, maintain, and install mechanical equipment, machines, and tools to ensure continuous operations.
  • Perform maintenance activities on utility systems to provide a continuous supply of heat, steam, electric power, gas, or air required for operations.
  • Assist in ongoing preventive maintenance programs in conjunction with other engineering and maintenance staff.
  • Inspect operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.
  • Identify low levels in department inventory and maintain inventory, including proper storage and knowledge of use.
  • Assist in compliance with Hazard Communication Program, including Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS), labeling, storing, and handling of materials.
  • Assist with the identification of safety procedures, equipment, and protective clothing requirements.
  • Respond to work orders as directed by management.
  • Assist in the application of key control policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience as a full-time Engineer in an office or commercial building, facilities environment.
  • Experience in a tenant-facing setting is preferred.
  • Able to work in and maintain a professional manner in a highly visible, public environment.
  • Ability to work overtime, including responding to after-hours calls as needed, and nights/weekend shifts may be required.
  • Experience with EMS/BMS systems, commercial HVAC, and electrical systems is required.
  • Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic knowledge of computer.
  • Valid driver's license is required.

The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to machine noise and inclement weather conditions.
