Job Overview

This role is a critical component of the City of Bridgeport, CT - Government's efforts to provide comprehensive mental health services to its residents. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with various stakeholders to promote optimum mental and emotional well-being.

The estimated annual salary for this position is $77,810.00, which includes a comprehensive benefits package administered by the Connecticut Municipal Employees Retirement System (CMERS). Depending on the employee group, some benefits may include health insurance, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, paid leave, paid holidays, and 457(a) deferred compensation plan.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist residents in addressing concerns related to substance misuse, homelessness, and mental illness.
  • Collaborate with the Crisis Intervention Teams to organize daily referrals, prioritize high-risk residents, and communicate time-sensitive information to the Director of Clinical Services or designee.
  • Provide direct mental health assessments, individual, family, and group treatment plans, and fieldwork instruction, considering cultural, social, economic, medical, and environmental factors.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree and Master's degree in social work or psychology.
  • One year of experience as a mental health provider.
  • Considerable knowledge of human behavior theories, diagnostic categories of mental illness, family dynamics, substance abuse, and human sexuality.
  • Knowledge of statutes, regulations, and standards relating to mental health services.
