Job Summary

This role plays a vital part in our patient-centric care delivery model, ensuring that our patients receive exceptional service and quality care in the office setting. You will be responsible for performing at or above the standards of care set for the superior patient experience in clinical and non-clinical settings. Additionally, you will proficiently navigate multiple information technology platforms, EHR work queues, and applications to provide and support best practices/protocols, value-based care, and demonstrate the Core Values of ProMedica.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Greet patients and visitors warmly and efficiently as they arrive for their appointments.
  • Register new patients and verify patient demographics and insurance information on existing patients to ensure accurate records.
  • Answer and/or triage patient telephone calls, record complete and accurate messages, and obtain necessary instructions from the provider, office manager, nurses, etc. when appropriate.
  • Coordinate the scheduling of patient appointments following the appropriate processes and procedures.
  • Reschedule patients for follow-up as requested by providers.
  • Collect co-payments, deductibles, or visit fees, as well as outstanding balances when necessary.
  • Provide excellent patient service by documenting information accurately, promptly, and legibly to meet regulatory requirements and practice standards.
  • Communicate professionally with patients, providers, and coworkers at all times, supporting internal and external customers to maintain a superior customer experience across the continuum of care through teamwork.
  • Maintain the provider schedule to meet customer service, access, and productivity standards of the office.
  • Assist clinical staff and/or providers with outgoing phone calls to patients, pharmacies, or other providers as needed.
  • Participate in practice staff meetings.
  • May function as a Medical Scribe, adhering to System Policy SP17-14 while performing this role.
  • Accurately complete and submit daily charge and payment reconciliation processes.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • The ability to understand written and verbal directions, communicate effectively, and respond to inquiries.
  • A strong commitment to achieving outstanding internal and external customer satisfaction.
  • General computer and typing proficiency.
  • Independent judgment and excellent interpersonal skills requiring minimal supervision and guidance.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in a customer service or clerical setting.

Estimated Salary Range: $40,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on location and experience.
