Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and support the accounting team to achieve dynamic leadership and foster a collaborative environment
  • Review and document current accounting practices and procedures, identifying areas for improvement
  • Develop and implement process improvements, including working with external vendors and consultants
  • Evaluate subsidiary journals for errors and omissions, and enter corrected data into the general ledger
  • Coordinate monthly closing and production of financial statements to ensure timely reporting
  • Assist with updating financial statements to reflect the company's financial position
  • Review and prepare account reconciliations and maintain the integrity of general ledgers
  • Record monthly reclassification entries, accruals, and fixed asset acquisitions and disposals
  • Coordinate and oversee the maintenance of key systems, including accounting system upgrades and UAT
  • Provide system support for accounting team and company-wide for accounting software and budget software
  • Review and test new products, including creation of GL accounts
  • Interface with various departments on projects and understand company needs
  • Oversee and coordinate departmental projects in coordination with the Senior Director of Finance
  • Maintain a commitment to and align with ACE mission, vision, values, and programs
Requirements
  • Located in San Diego County with the ability to be onsite for team or process support/responsibilities (hybrid role)
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting
  • 8 years of experience in accounting and 5 years of experience in managing an accounting team
  • 3 years of experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • Able to maintain a high level of accuracy and meet deadlines
  • Ability to multi-task, establish priorities, manage projects, and organize efficiently
  • Proven experience in leading a team and ability to convey and model core company values
  • Dedicated to internal controls and safeguards
  • Experience managing projects, including assignment of roles and management to timelines
  • Ability to lead or direct multiple complex projects and activities in an ambiguous environment
  • High level of accountability and ability to independently establish proficiency in various systems and resolve issues via research, vendor, or consultant support
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills
  • Expert level proficiency in Excel
