Graduate Nurse Residency Program - Medical/Surgical/Telemetry

This residency program is designed to provide new nursing graduates with essential hands-on training, focusing on developing clinical competencies and confidence in patient care. The curriculum includes vital topics such as fostering a positive work environment, building resilience, addressing ethical dilemmas, and engaging with patients and families effectively.

New cohorts of nurse residents will be formed based on specific hiring timelines. Candidates must apply to the residency program relevant to their nursing unit of interest. There is an opportunity to indicate preferences for multiple departments during the application process.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients and families, recognizing both typical and atypical health parameters based on clinical experience. Employ a patient-centered approach in care planning and prioritization.
  • Develop and implement care plans, effectively prioritizing both anticipated and emergent needs while involving patients and families in care goal setting.
  • Exhibit proficiency in the technical skills necessary for patient care, remaining informed about organizational policies and serving as a resource for colleagues.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to facilitate comprehensive care for patients and families, ensuring access to necessary services.
  • Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of care provided, demonstrating adherence to clinical documentation standards and practices.

Qualifications:

  • Licensure: Must possess an active New York Nursing license; applicants with out-of-state licenses are also welcome.
  • Educational Background: A minimum of an Associate's Degree in Nursing is required.
  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications are necessary, with opportunities to obtain these during the initial employment period.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to perform repetitive hand and finger movements (e.g., typing); may involve lifting and carrying light loads (up to 40 lbs) and performing tasks that require bending and kneeling.

Work Environment:

  • This position requires on-site presence.

Compensation:

  • Hourly wage of $38.63.
