Aircraft Mechanic I Job Description

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Aircraft Mechanic I to join our team at Amentum. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces, and controls.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect and repair aircraft structures, functional components, and systems, including wings, fuselage, and engines.
  • Read and interpret manufacturers' and airline's maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and technical data to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning components.
  • Perform 100-hour, progressive, isochronal, phase, periodic, and other hourly or calendar inspections to detect and diagnose malfunctions.
  • Test engine operation using testing equipment to locate source of malfunction.
  • Adjust, repair, or replace electrical wiring systems and aircraft accessories.
  • Supervise the jacking and towing of aircraft and enter maintenance records description of work performed.

Requirements:

  • Three years aviation maintenance experience, two years rotary wing aircraft experience, and two years on the assigned Mission Design Series (MDS).
  • A valid up-to-date A&P license is preferred but not required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a NACI(T1) Public Trust Security Clearance.
  • Valid Drivers License.
  • Must provide own tools/toolbox.

Working Conditions: Work is performed in a shop environment that is moderately lighted, heated, and ventilated. Is exposed to disagreeable fumes and to cuts and bruised from using tools in close placed and hazards of moving vehicles such as forklifts in shop area.

Benefits: This position includes a competitive benefits package, including a hiring salary range of $70, $33.66 an hour, and a comprehensive benefits package.
