Position Overview:

As a key member of the Spacecraft Development Department, you will join a team of forward-thinking engineers and program managers dedicated to creating innovative spacecraft solutions for complex space missions.

Your role will involve designing and fabricating tailored solutions that push the limits of scientific exploration and address intricate challenges not yet tackled by the industry.


Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate within multidisciplinary project teams to conceptualize, analyze, and construct state-of-the-art spacecraft that facilitate the future of space exploration.

Provide expert technical leadership in the development of thermal subsystems throughout the entire program lifecycle.

Engage with clients and participate in design reviews to substantiate design choices.

Lead and support research and development initiatives aimed at adopting and implementing cutting-edge technologies; deliver innovative solutions to design obstacles.

Mentor and train junior staff members to foster their professional growth.


Daily Tasks:
  • Establish thermal subsystem requirements and develop verification strategies.
  • Conduct structural and thermal analyses of flight hardware at both unit and spacecraft levels utilizing finite element analysis software and traditional methodologies.
  • Oversee the design and fabrication processes for thermal subsystems and associated spaceflight hardware.
  • Execute tests on hardware to validate its resilience against launch and space environmental conditions.
  • Create technical documentation for mission updates and prepare materials for both internal and external evaluations; initiate and conduct internal research to enhance technology and maintain a competitive edge.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline is required.

5-10 years of experience in thermal subsystem design, with a proven track record as a lead in spacecraft thermal subsystems.

Experience with Thermal Desktop software is essential; training in Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) is preferred.

Experience in spacecraft or space system development for government or commercial sectors is advantageous.

Demonstrated technical proficiency through a variety of challenging projects, with the ability to work independently and take responsibility for task completion.

A valid driver's license is mandatory.


Additional Requirements:

The selected candidate will undergo a government security investigation and must meet eligibility criteria for access to classified information.

U.S. citizenship is required.
