Senior Financial Specialist, Institute for Liver Disease and Metabolic Health

The Stravitz-Sanyal Institute for Liver Disease and Metabolic Health at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine is seeking a highly skilled Financial Specialist to provide fiscal and budgetary support. The ideal candidate will have experience in financial management, analysis, and procurement, with a strong ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct financial analyses and assessments to support decision-making regarding resource allocation
- Participate in the annual budget development process and make recommendations for upcoming budget cycles
- Provide guidance and training to researchers and staff on financial policies and procedures
- Reconcile assigned indexes on a monthly basis and maintain accurate records
- Track spending on research awards and pilot funds
- Maintain current knowledge of state, university, and school policies and procedures
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or business preferred and 1 to 3 years in a financial administrative role
- Demonstrated analytical skills and ability to create reports and tracking tools
- Strong problem-solving and time management skills, with ability to adapt to frequent changes in work assignments
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a diverse environment
- Proficient in the use of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
