Environmental Specialist Job Description

Ashland is seeking a highly skilled Environmental Specialist to join our team at our Texas City, Texas plant. As an Environmental Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with federal, state, local, and company environmental regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead plant waste programs and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Develop and implement environmental permitting processes to ensure compliance with applicable permit conditions.
  • Conduct investigations related to actual or potential compliance violations and develop corrective actions.
  • Provide environmental regulatory training to personnel and assist with plant maintenance, startup, and shutdown permit compliance.
  • Assist other departments with activities and projects to ensure compliance and further environmental compliance goals.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, environmental science, or related field with minimum three years equivalent experience in a chemical plant environment.
  • Knowledge of state and federal environmental regulations and environmental permitting procedures.
  • Able to interact effectively with individuals from the manufacturing site, corporate, regulatory agencies, vendors, and the community.
  • Able to identify critical issues and formulate action plans with all levels of company.
  • Able to develop and foster a positive work environment at all levels.
  • Able to respond appropriately during site emergencies and evacuate the manufacturing process areas in a timely manner.
  • Able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment when required to work and visit within the manufacturing process area.
  • Possess ability to walk, climb stairs, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, including routine lifting of equipment of up to 25 lbs.
  • Valid Driver's License (if driving vehicles on Company business).
