Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at EngageMED Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting routine tests in clinical laboratories for use in treatment and diagnosis of diseases.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare specimens for microscope examination using standard techniques and equipment.
  • Perform testing and report test results in urinalysis, hematology, and chemistry.
  • Perform diagnostic testing on patient samples to aid physicians in the diagnosis and/or monitoring of various disease states.
  • Analyze test results for accuracy, acceptability, and critical limits.
  • Follow quality control policies and document quality control activities.
  • Maintain instruments and equipment.
  • Call critical values to providers per policy.
  • Resolve pending reports at end of shift.
  • Communicate to day shift any issues/problems to address.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism. A knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field is also required. Additionally, the candidate should be able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. The ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals is also essential. Furthermore, the candidate should be able to effectively present information and respond to common inquiries or complaints from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

The successful candidate will also possess strong mathematical skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. The ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs is also required. Additionally, the candidate should be able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. The ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form is also essential.

The candidate should also be proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite, Internet navigation, database management, desktop publishing, spreadsheet, and graphic presentation packages.

A minimum of an Associate degree in a related field is preferred, and graduation from an accredited MLT program is required. Eligibility for ASCP or AMT certification is also required. Experience in a clinical laboratory setting is also preferred.
