The Medication History Pharmacy Technician plays a crucial role in assisting with the documentation and clarification of medication histories under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. This position involves processing, entering, and interpreting medication histories obtained from healthcare providers, ensuring comprehensive documentation within the computerized system.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional customer service as a liaison between the pharmacy department and patients or caregivers, facilitating communication with prescribers as necessary.
- Accurately process medication histories obtained from physicians, nurses, and pharmacists, entering the information into the computer system while assisting in the maintenance of patient profiles.
- Conduct thorough reviews of patient profiles for potential allergies, medication duplications, and last administered doses, promptly notifying the pharmacist of any concerns.
- Verify the accuracy of patient profiles to ensure high-quality care.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace to promote efficiency and safety.
- Adhere to all requirements for CPhT certifications and complete all assigned competencies by the designated deadlines.
- Engage in quality assurance activities, including data collection, collation, and presentation.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Preferred: Associate's Degree in healthcare or a related field.
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in a pharmacy setting is required.
- Preferred: 2 years of experience in retail pharmacy.
- Licensure as a Pharmacy Technician in the State of Michigan is required.
- Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPHT) or equivalent is required within 90 days of employment.
- Experience in medication history pharmacy technician roles is strongly preferred.
- Eligibility to pick up virtual shifts after gaining sufficient on-site experience.
