Division Administrator for Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities

The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services is seeking a visionary leader to serve as the Division Administrator for the Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities Division. This critical role provides overall direction and guidance for the division, which serves Montanans of all ages with physical, mental, or developmental disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish and implement goals, objectives, and priorities for the division.
  • Ensure state compliance with federal regulations.
  • Develop and manage the division budget, ensuring adequate allocation of funding.

Qualifications:
  • Knowledge and skill in leading people and programs with a statewide impact.
  • Ability to manage multiple and competing high-profile, sensitive, or controversial issues.
  • Ability to develop and implement innovative and unconventional approaches to challenging situations.
  • Ability to establish credibility and use data to directly persuade or convince others to support an idea or direction.
  • Meet minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a business-related field, public administration, human services, or a directly related field. Eight years of progressively responsible management and leadership experience, including at least 6 years of management of large programs and supervision of substantial staff and budgets. Other combinations of related education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
