Position Summary

The Patient Care Resource Team Registered Nurse embodies the core mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Memorial Healthcare. This role requires adherence to our Code of Ethics and compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.

The Patient Care Resource Team RN is a skilled, licensed professional responsible for prescribing, delegating, and coordinating nursing care for critically ill patients. Utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation, the RN will effectively engage with patients, their families, and the healthcare team while upholding the standards of professional nursing practice.

This position entails assignments across various Northwestern Memorial Healthcare locations, with a minimum duration of six continuous weeks at a single facility and a maximum of six continuous months. This role offers an excellent opportunity for RNs to refine their clinical expertise and enhance their communication and teamwork skills while building relationships with colleagues throughout the healthcare system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Gather and analyze patient data, identify expected outcomes, develop and implement individualized care plans, coordinate care delivery, and evaluate progress toward achieving outcomes.
  • Direct patient care and determine the appropriate utilization of support staff involved in delivering care.
  • Collaborate with patients, families, physicians, and ancillary staff to create a documented care plan focused on outcomes and communication.
  • Engage in shared decision-making, participate in committee work, and contribute to unit projects.
  • Assess and document patient responses to nursing interventions in the health record, adjusting the care plan based on evaluation findings.
  • Utilize evidence-based practices, including research findings, to inform clinical decisions.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Minimum of two years of experience in inpatient medical/surgical, stepdown, or ICU settings.
  • Current Registered Professional Nurse license in the State of Illinois.
  • CPR certification – Basic Life Support.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.
  • Analytical abilities to assess and respond to patient needs.

Preferred:

  • Previous experience as an RN in a float or coverage role within an inpatient hospital environment.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing, with an expectation to obtain a BSN within two years of employment.
