Job Summary

We are seeking a seasoned Director of Operations for our multifamily construction division who has a strong background in MEP systems and a proven track record in business development. This role will oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of multifamily construction projects, ensuring excellence in delivery and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operational Leadership: Lead and manage all aspects of multifamily construction operations, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Develop and implement strategic plans to improve operational efficiency and project delivery.
  • MEP Coordination: Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of MEP systems for multifamily projects. Ensure MEP design, installation, and commissioning meet project requirements, industry standards, and client expectations. Collaborate with MEP engineers, subcontractors, and consultants to resolve issues and optimize systems.
  • Project Oversight: Oversee all phases of construction from pre-construction through project closeout. Ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, codes, and safety regulations. Conduct regular site visits and inspections to monitor progress and quality.
  • Team Management: Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of project managers, superintendents, and field staff. Foster a collaborative and results-driven work environment that promotes professional growth and accountability.
  • Business Development: Collaborate with the business development team to identify and pursue new project opportunities. Develop relationships with clients, architects, developers, and other key stakeholders to expand the company's portfolio. Participate in client presentations, proposals, and contract negotiations.
  • Financial Management: Develop and manage project and department budgets, including forecasting, cost control, and profitability analysis. Monitor project financials, track performance metrics, and implement corrective actions as needed to maximize profitability.
  • Quality Assurance and Control: Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure all work meets project specifications, industry standards, and client expectations. Lead efforts to continuously improve construction processes, materials, and methods.
  • Safety Management: Promote a strong safety culture across all job sites. Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and project-specific safety plans. Conduct regular safety meetings, audits, and reviews.
  • Client and Stakeholder Relations: Serve as the primary point of contact for key clients and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle. Ensure effective communication, address concerns, and maintain a high level of client satisfaction.
  • Reporting and Communication: Provide regular updates to senior management on project status, financial performance, and operational issues. Prepare detailed reports and presentations to support decision-making.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; a Master's degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in multifamily construction management, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role overseeing MEP systems and business development.
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale multifamily construction projects, including experience with MEP design, coordination, and installation.
  • Strong understanding of multifamily construction methods, MEP systems, building codes, and industry standards.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
  • Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project) and MS Office Suite.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience in budgeting, forecasting, and cost management.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification or similar is preferred.
  • OSHA 30 certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel as needed.
