Job Summary:

The Middlesex Corporation is a leading heavy civil construction company seeking a highly skilled Senior Staff Accountant to join its Accounting and Finance team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for assisting with general ledger maintenance, monthly closing process, financial statement preparation, internal and external audits, and tax return preparation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Comply with and promote all Safety policies and procedures, ensuring adherence to our core value of Safety first.
  • Assist with preparation of monthly closing journal entries for intercompany allocations and related analysis.
  • Prepare various periodic reports, including Site Management Cost-to-Date Report, Diesel fuel tax filings, and Backlog tracking and updates for estimating.
  • Support Assistant Controller with sponsored Joint Venture accounting, including cost download, invoicing, and payment processing for JV partners.
  • Participate in year-end external financial audit and income tax return preparation, as well as ongoing internal job estimate to complete and process control audits.
  • Prepare and assist in preparation of certain state sales and use tax returns, including posting of ACH payments.
  • Assist with monthly General and Administrative actual vs. budgeted variance analysis, including running all detail cost reports.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting.
  • Previous experience in construction and percentage of completion preferred but not necessary.
  • Knowledge of Viewpoint software preferred but not necessary.
  • Strong computer skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
