Medical Laboratory Scientist

Responsibilities:- Perform diagnostic laboratory procedures to provide timely and accurate test results for healthcare providers.
- Participate in the Laboratory's Quality Assurance Plan to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction by adhering to Rivers Edge Hospital's Standards of Behavior.
- Collaborate with colleagues to maintain a smooth workflow and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Communicate effectively with other departments and staff to ensure seamless patient care.
- Recognize and respond to testing and lab priorities, exercising good judgment in non-routine situations.
- Adhere to federal and state laws, regulations, and guidelines, including OSHA and CLIA.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in laboratory practices and implement approved changes and new tasks.
- Take responsibility for your own career development and participate in continuing education opportunities.
- Manage stress and resolve conflicts in a professional manner.
- Perform EKGs and other waived, moderate, and high-complexity tests as authorized by the Lab Manager.
- Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling, processing, and reporting, and maintain accurate records of patient test results.
- Participate in proficiency testing and adhere to the Laboratory's quality control policy and procedures.
- Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) from an accredited institution or a Biologic Science or Chemistry Degree.
- Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent.
- Ability to travel to other work sites as needed with own transportation.
- Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) or willing to obtain certification within six months of hire.
- Competitive hourly wage: $31.14 - $41.19.
- Bonus: $5,000 at hire, $5,000 on anniversary date, up to a maximum of $15,000.
