Position Summary:
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Vergennes is seeking dedicated individuals to engage with school-aged children in our afterschool programs. To motivate and empower all young individuals, particularly those who require our support the most, to achieve their full potential as responsible, productive, and compassionate citizens.
Job Responsibilities:
Under the guidance of the CEO or designated supervisor, the Youth Meal Preparation Specialist will be responsible for preparing nutritious meals and snacks for the youth. The role involves creating dishes that are not only delicious but also delivered in a timely manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop a monthly menu calendar incorporating input from youth regarding meal preferences from an approved selection.
- Organize workstations with all necessary ingredients and cooking tools.
- Handle grocery shopping and ensure timely food orders are placed.
- Monitor expenditures related to meals and track student participation in the program.
- Ensure compliance with food health and safety standards while cooking.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Understanding of nutrition and food safety.
- Ability to accurately follow recipes.
- Proficient in food preparation techniques.
- Strong communication skills.
- Capability to properly store food items.
- Maintain cleanliness by sanitizing workstations and utensils.
Educational Requirements:
- Applicants must obtain a Food Handler Certification and possess CPR & First Aid Certification, if not already held.
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- Successful completion of a National Criminal Background check is mandatory.
- Physical ability to stand and move throughout the shift, bend, kneel, and lift up to 25 pounds or more.
Position Status: Part-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt
Location: Vergennes, Vermont
Hours: Typically from 1 PM to 6:30 PM
