Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Automotive Technician to join our team at the Metropolitan Tulsa Transit Authority. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, and servicing all MTTA vehicular equipment.

Essential Functions:
  • Repair and replace diesel, gasoline, and/or CNG engine accessories as required.
  • Repair and replace bus and automotive body accessories, including doors, engines, electrical units, glass, windshield wipers, seats, and wheelchair lifts.
  • Rebuild engine parts and other bus parts, such as brakes, alternators, differentials, and more.
  • Repair all MTTA vehicles, including gas, diesel, and CNG models, as well as air conditioners, motors, transmissions, generators, starters, and other components.
  • Makes road calls as needed for various issues, such as breakdowns, farebox malfunctions, biohazard situations, and more.
  • Troubleshoot vehicular problems, including electrical systems, engines, and other complex issues.
Other Job Functions:
  • Assume additional responsibilities as required.
  • Fuel buses and other MTTA vehicles.
  • Must report to work on a regular and timely basis.
Requirements:

Knowledge: High school diploma or GED required, with a high school auto mechanics program or graduation from a recognized diesel mechanics school.

Must possess: Three years of diesel and gasoline engine repair experience, trouble-shooting automotive and bus electrical systems, standard mechanical hand tools, and experience using such tools to perform mechanical work.

Mental Effort: Must be able to read and understand maintenance manuals, prepare work cards, and orders for vehicle repairs.

License: Must be licensed in the state of Oklahoma, with a Class A or Class B CDL and passenger endorsement. Must have CNG certification or obtain one within six months. Forklift license preferred. Must have received no moving violations within the last three years and have no DUI/DWI convictions.

Physical: Extensive walking, standing, bending, twisting, and stooping at least 90% of the time. Lifting maximum of lbs., and lifting parts and materials overhead. Must be able to withstand exposure to negative surroundings, such as uncomfortable weather conditions, dust, engine fumes, toxic chemicals, and extreme noise levels.

Audible/Visual Demands: Requires ability to hear directions given, distinguish vehicular problems associated with trouble-shooting repairs, and visually perform essential functions for satisfactory job performance.

Miscellaneous: 21 years of age. Must be willing to work shift hours and days as assigned. Must be safety-conscious and avoid accidents if possible.
