About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our team at Medstar. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to provide high-quality nursing care to patients in a pediatric setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives, adhering to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards.
  • Performs general nursing care to patients, administering prescribed medications, vaccines, treatments, and procedures in accordance with nursing standards.
  • Prepares equipment and aids physician during treatment, examination, and testing of patients, observing, recording, and reporting patient's condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to physicians.
  • Greets patients and prepares them for physician examination, screens patients for appropriate information, instructs patients in the collection of samples and tests, performs patient telephone triage, assesses needs, and coordinates needs with medical staff.
  • Triages walk-in patients and provides guidance, determining the most appropriate course of action for the patient to take regarding obtaining an appointment in the clinic, referral to another facility, or home care advice.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing, Bachelor's degree B.S.N. preferred.
  • 2 years of professional nursing experience, including 1 year of telephone triage, pediatric experience, and previous use of electronic medical records.
  • RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure, CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days.

Estimated Salary Range

$34.98 - $62.52 per hour, based on experience.
