Role Summary

The Dietitian for Adult Services is tasked with implementing evidence-based nutritional strategies as an integral part of Skyland Trail's comprehensive wellness framework. This role collaborates closely with a multidisciplinary team, including healthcare providers, therapists, and other stakeholders, to ensure optimal nutritional assessment and dietary planning for patients at the Adult Campus.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough nutritional evaluations and follow-up consultations with patients.
  • Identify patients requiring additional nutritional education and provide ongoing support throughout their treatment journey.
  • Assess the need for specialized diets and offer nutrition counseling tailored to individual patient requirements.
  • Coordinate with healthcare professionals and catering services to implement dietary recommendations effectively.
  • Maintain clear communication with treatment teams through documentation, meetings, and consultations.
  • Document all relevant patient interactions and assessments in the electronic health record promptly.
  • Advise on the development of policies and procedures related to nutritional care in alignment with medical leadership.
  • Collaborate with the adolescent dietitian and external specialists for comprehensive eating disorder assessments.
  • Evaluate the nutritional implications of prescribed medications and communicate findings to patients and providers.
  • Facilitate group therapy sessions focusing on health, nutrition, and wellness.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, including patient satisfaction surveys and meal audits.
  • Assist in emergency planning by developing disaster menus in collaboration with catering services.
  • Support the Healthy Challenge Program by tracking patient engagement and progress.
  • Attend scheduled staff meetings and contribute to team discussions.
  • Provide oversight and support during gym activities to ensure patient safety and engagement.
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Structure:
Reports to the Director of Adjunctive Therapies

Required Competencies:
  • Expertise in nutrition assessment and counseling.
  • Knowledge of therapeutic diets and nutrition education.
  • Ability to facilitate group activities and document outcomes.
  • Commitment to safety across all relevant domains.
  • Adaptability and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Nutrition with a minimum of two years of clinical experience; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • Active membership in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
  • Licensed by the Georgia Board of Licensed Dietitians.
  • Experience working with adolescents facing mental health challenges.
