Job Title: Medical Officer

Adventist Health is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Officer to join our team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for providing strategic direction and oversight to our clinical operations, ensuring the highest level of patient safety and care.

Job Summary:

The Medical Officer will serve as the senior physician leader in the market, with a focus on medical and clinical staff alignment and engagement, market strategy, and finance and operations-related topics. This role will lead the organization to bring the clinical voice forward, be the patient advocate, and act as a subject matter expert for clinical staff and administration.

Responsibilities:
  • Execute on care transformation plans around the 6 initiatives: clinical leadership, high reliability organization, care redesign, population health, patient experience/engagement, and clinical workforce.
  • Lead efforts to roll-out the evidence-based standard of care, improve clinical outcomes, and disseminate best practices for the market in accordance with the care transformation initiatives.
  • Provide oversight and assistance to the Chief of Staff, members of the Medical Executive Committee, and the Medical Staff to assist them in their roles and to maximize the market's culture of patient safety and quality.
  • Facilitate physician leadership development and education.
  • Lead the market quality/patient safety staff in accordance with care transformation initiatives.
  • Facilitate collegial and effective working relations with all clinicians (e.g., physicians, nurses, physician-assistants, advanced nurse practitioners, and other medical staff members).
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in business, public health, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Master's Degree in public health, healthcare administration, or related discipline (preferred).
  • Fifteen years of progressively responsible management experience within a healthcare system or complex hospital environment (preferred).
  • Ten years of experience as a practicing physician in hospital medicine, primary care, or specialty medicine (preferred).
Licenses/Certifications:
  • Medical license (MD or DO) or Physician and Surgeon (PSG or PSC or MDA).
  • Board Certified Physician.
  • State medical board licensed.
