Position Overview:
Tower Health is looking for two Advanced Practitioners to enhance our Cardiothoracic Surgery team. One role will focus on in-office support, while the other will be dedicated to surgical responsibilities.
The Cardiothoracic Advanced Practitioner collaborates closely with Cardiothoracic Surgeons and a multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure optimal patient care within the cardiothoracic surgery service.
This role facilitates effective communication among patients, families, various hospital departments, nursing staff, and medical professionals. The practitioner will serve as a clinical authority within the Cardiothoracic Surgery Program, practicing in accordance with state and federal regulations and established policies.
One of the positions will provide in-office assistance.We seek a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) who will conduct consultations, manage patient rounds, oversee direct admissions and discharges, and provide night-time ICU coverage during on-call shifts, along with daytime floor coverage.
The Advanced Practitioner will also support surgeons with pre-operative tasks, manage patient consultations, prescribe and order diagnostic studies pre- and post-operation, and perform histories and physicals. A strong understanding of hemodynamic management, ventilators, ventricular assist devices, and the pharmacological effects of cardiotonic medications is essential for functioning at the highest level of autonomy permitted by advanced practice licensure.
Key Responsibilities:
One in-office support position is available with hours from Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM.
Expected procedures in the practice setting include: Pacing Wire Removal, Chest Tube Removal, Wound VAC changes, Wound Care, direct hospital admissions, and post-operative care.
Responsibilities will encompass post-operative cases, emergency patient care, and consultations.
On-call duties are expected one weekend every three weeks.
*All candidates must possess certification and hold an active professional license in Pennsylvania (PA or NP).
Current BLS and ACLS certifications are required.
