Advanced Practitioner Cardiothoracic Surgery Specialist

The Reading Hospital is seeking an Advanced Practitioner to contribute to our Cardiothoracic Surgery team. The General Cardiothoracic Surgical Advanced Practitioner collaborates with Cardiothoracic Surgeons and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals in coordinating and delivering patient care in a limited, non-cardiac surgical arena of the cardiothoracic surgery service. Facilitates communication between the patient and family, various hospital departments, the Nursing Service and the Medical Staff; functions as a clinical expert in the Cardiothoracic Surgery Program and practices to the fullest extent permitted under all current state and federal laws, and according to approved policies.
Key Responsibilities- Performs consults and rounding, direct admissions, and discharges
- First assists in surgery, runs ICU at night when performing night call and covers floor coverage during the day
- Serves as first assist to physicians while in the operating room and performs surgical functions
- Assists surgeons with pre-operative work, consults and communications with patients, prescribes and orders pre and post-operative diagnostic studies, performs H&P's, and possesses advanced knowledge in hemodynamic management of ventilators, ventricular assist devices, the pharmacological effects of vasoactive cardiotonic drugs, and adult critical care
- Master's Degree
- Relevant Experience
- BLS Certification
- Certification or CE Units Specific To Departmental Area
- PA Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner License
- PA Registered Nurse License
