Job Description

Job Summary: Bergen Community College is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Program Success Coach to play a vital role in supporting students in their academic and professional growth. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in education, counseling, or a related field, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Student Support: Provide holistic and proactive advising to students, guiding them throughout their enrollment and registration process, monitoring their progress, and addressing their inquiries and issues.
  • Academic Intervention: Identify and intervene to support academically at-risk or struggling students, referring them to appropriate college resources to ensure successful completion of their goals.
  • Progress Monitoring: Monitor students' academic performance and progress, supporting their persistence, completion, and success through outreach, intervention, and collaboration with relevant support services.
  • Program Promotion: Organize information sessions and orientations to recruit students and promote the program, acknowledging students' achievements and milestones.
  • Workshops and Training: Develop and offer necessary workshops to improve students' skills, enhancing retention and completion of the program.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Document and record students' progress and performance, contributing to monthly grant reports and a departmental annual assessment report.
  • Financial Management: Support budget and payment processes, ensuring timely disbursement of students' stipend, tuition reimbursement, and instructor salary payment in collaboration with related departments.
  • Career Placement: Work with the Career Placement manager to support student internship and career placement, maintaining documentation and updating available career resources.
  • Resource Utilization: Maintain a working knowledge of services offered by the college and the grant, assisting students in fully utilizing all available resources.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in social work, counseling, education, communications, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in an educational setting, preferably working with adult learners or people with special needs.
  • Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with students, instructors, and industry professionals; organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly in maintaining student records and program documentation; knowledge of Direct Support Professional and experience with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
