JOB TITLE: Instructor - Specializing in Literacy and Mathematics

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Integrate 21st Century Skills into the curriculum to enrich student education.
  • Evaluate student capabilities and customize teaching methods accordingly.
  • Involve students and their families by sharing instructional expectations and progress updates.
  • Collaborate with fellow educators to establish effective instructional objectives and curriculum.
  • Ensure a supportive and secure learning atmosphere for all students.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities and attend staff meetings.
  • Assist in tracking student progress and maintaining necessary documentation.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities and Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings.
  • Continuously improve understanding of educational methodologies and practices.
  • Build strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Exhibit expertise in the subject matter and apply suitable teaching strategies.
  • Adapt teaching approaches to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Actively engage in the school community and support student programs.
  • Fulfill various other responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Hold a valid Kansas teaching certificate in the relevant instructional area.
  • Preference for an endorsement in English as a Second Language or a commitment to obtain one.

COMMUNICATION:

Enhance collaborative efforts by maintaining open lines of communication with school staff, parents, and guardians. Provide health services and information effectively to support the wellness of the school community.

ORGANIZATION:

Keep precise records of school visits and health office activities. Utilize technology effectively in daily responsibilities and perform related tasks as necessary.

REASONING ABILITY:

Possess the ability to solve practical challenges and interpret instructions effectively in various formats.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Read and comprehend professional literature, write reports, and present information clearly to diverse audiences.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must be capable of moving throughout the classroom, lifting up to 50 pounds, and having sufficient vision capabilities for teaching.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Function in a standard educational setting with responsibilities for student safety and well-being.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 186 days

SALARY: Based on KCKPS Salary Schedule

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

REPORT TO: Principal

Evaluation: Performance will be assessed in accordance with KCKPS Board of Education policy.
