JOB TITLE: Instructor - Specializing in Literacy and Mathematics

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Integrate 21st Century Skills into the educational framework to improve student outcomes.
  • Evaluate student capabilities and customize teaching methodologies accordingly.
  • Involve students and families by clearly communicating educational objectives and progress.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to establish effective teaching goals and curriculum plans.
  • Ensure a supportive and secure learning atmosphere for all students.
  • Engage in professional development and participate in staff meetings.
  • Assist in tracking student achievements and maintaining educational records.
  • Participate in extracurricular initiatives and Individualized Education Program (IEP) discussions.
  • Continuously expand knowledge of educational strategies and theories.
  • Build strong relationships with students, families, and fellow educators.
  • Exhibit expertise in the subject matter and apply suitable teaching methods.
  • Adapt instructional approaches to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Actively contribute to the school community and student support initiatives.
  • Fulfill various other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Hold a valid Kansas teaching certification in the relevant subject area.
  • Preference for an endorsement in English as a Second Language or a commitment to obtain one.

COMMUNICATION:

Promote collaborative efforts by maintaining open lines of communication with school staff, families, and guardians. Provide essential health services and information to support the wellness of the school community.

ORGANIZATION:

Keep precise records of school visits and health office activities. Utilize technology effectively in daily responsibilities and perform related tasks as necessary.

REASONING ABILITY:

Possess the ability to address practical challenges and interpret instructions in various formats effectively.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Read and analyze professional literature, compose reports, and convey information clearly to a variety of audiences.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must be capable of moving throughout the classroom, lifting up to 50 pounds, and possessing adequate vision for instructional purposes.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Function within a standard educational setting with responsibilities for ensuring student safety and well-being.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 186 days

SALARY: Based on KCKPS Salary Schedule

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

REPORT TO: Principal

Evaluation: Performance will be assessed in accordance with KCKPS Board of Education policy.
