Role Summary

The Animal Care Technician will be instrumental in delivering outstanding care to our patients while supporting our veterinary professionals. The ideal candidate will possess practical experience in an animal care environment, showcasing strong clinical abilities, excellent communication skills, and a genuine love for animals. This full-time role demands a committed individual who thrives in a dynamic setting and can efficiently handle various responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care:
  • Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during medical procedures, including administering medications, taking vital signs, and preparing animals for surgical interventions.
  • Provide compassionate support to patients throughout examinations, treatments, and recovery, ensuring their comfort and well-being.
  • Safely and effectively restrain animals during examinations and procedures.
Clinical Duties:
  • Prepare and maintain medical equipment and supplies, ensuring all items are sterilized and in optimal condition.
  • Conduct routine laboratory tests, including blood draws, urinalysis, and fecal examinations, and prepare samples for external analysis.
  • Monitor and document patient progress, updating medical records and communicating relevant information to veterinarians and pet owners.
Client Interaction:
  • Welcome clients and their pets upon arrival, assisting with check-in and check-out processes.
  • Educate clients on post-operative care, medication administration, and general pet health, providing clear and empathetic guidance.
  • Address client inquiries and concerns with professionalism, delivering exceptional customer service.
Administrative Tasks:
  • Maintain accurate and organized medical records, documenting patient information, treatment plans, and follow-up care.
  • Schedule appointments, follow up on missed appointments, and manage client communications via phone and email.
  • Assist with inventory management, including ordering and restocking supplies as necessary.
Facility Maintenance:
  • Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of examination rooms, treatment areas, and common spaces, adhering to infection control protocols.
  • Assist with the maintenance and upkeep of clinic equipment, reporting any malfunctions or issues to management.
Qualifications

Experience:
  • Prior experience as an Animal Care Technician or in a similar capacity is required.
  • Hands-on experience with veterinary procedures, animal handling, and client communication is essential.
Skills:
  • Strong clinical skills, including the ability to administer medications, perform basic lab tests, and handle various medical equipment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and team members.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Personal Attributes:
  • Compassionate and patient with animals of various sizes and temperaments.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to maintaining high standards of care.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, demonstrating reliability and flexibility.
Schedule:

Full-time position with rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed. Flexibility in scheduling is required.
