About Our Team

At AMERICAN GI FORUM - NVOP, we are dedicated to providing comprehensive community service to veterans and their families. We are seeking a highly skilled Veteran Transition Case Manager to join our team.

In this role, you will be responsible for improving the retention of housing for veterans who were previously homeless and are transitioning to permanent housing.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in a relevant field and one year of experience in case management, preferably working with individuals who are rapid-rehousing and homeless. Knowledge of local community resources, military/Veteran culture, and veteran's services is critical. Prior military experience is desirable.

Salary: $45,000 - $55,000 per annum (dependent on experience).

About the Job

This position involves developing a portfolio of landlords, property managers, and properties/units to utilize in Housing Search activities. You will connect veterans with benefits (State and Federal) and provide or coordinate educational activities related to meal planning, tenant responsibilities, fiscal management, etc.

You will also assist/train veterans in daily life transportation, communication, and self-advocacy, monitor and track progress of veterans with housing, and help them remove any barriers to housing.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be able to work independently and as part of a team, and possess strong problem-solving and organizational abilities.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
  • One year of experience in case management, preferably working with individuals who are rapid-rehousing and homeless
  • Knowledge of local community resources, military/Veteran culture, and veteran's services
  • Prior military experience is desirable
