Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Transportation Manager to join our team at US Foods, Inc. As a key member of our Transportation department, you will be responsible for leading a team of drivers and transportation associates, ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of goods to our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of drivers and transportation associates, providing coaching, training, and development opportunities to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to perform their jobs safely and effectively.
  • Develop and implement safety procedures and processes to minimize the risk of accidents and injuries, and to ensure compliance with DOT regulations.
  • Oversee the maintenance of driver qualification files and investigate all accidents, taking appropriate preventative action to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Effectively schedule working shifts, leveraging planning tools such as Microsoft Excel to optimize productivity and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Sr. Transportation Managers to develop and implement plans to address performance gaps and improve team performance.
  • Build high-performing teams by participating in interviewing and hiring transportation personnel, reviewing performance, coaching on service and safety targets, and delivering disciplinary action as needed.
  • Monitor production goals and maintain a zero-error attitude to ensure accuracy and customer satisfaction, anticipating, analyzing, and troubleshooting problems with deliveries and devising cost-effective and legal solutions.
  • Identify and stop waste, and improve processes to complete work more safely and efficiently.
  • Conduct routine Safety and Driver Meetings.
Requirements
  • Minimum of three years of experience in transportation/delivery or warehouse distribution required.
  • Minimum of one year of experience overseeing a workforce required.
  • Experience as a driver a plus.
  • Broad knowledge of transportation/delivery operations, methods, and procedures.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and people development skills.
  • Strong understanding of DOT requirements, familiarity with inventory control, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to interpret financial and operational data.
  • Basic computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Office).
Travel Requirements

10% travel required, typically for mandatory meetings and/or training.

Education/Training

High school diploma or GED required; college degree preferred.
