Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Transportation Manager to lead our transportation operations and ensure the safe and efficient movement of goods. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily activities of our drivers and transportation associates, developing and implementing safety procedures, and maintaining a culture of excellence within the department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead with a safety-first mindset to ensure the well-being of our associates, customers, and the general public.
  • Develop and implement safety procedures and training programs to maintain a zero-error attitude.
  • Oversee the development and performance of drivers and transportation associates, providing coaching and feedback to ensure they meet department goals and objectives.
  • Direct and supervise the work and productivity of drivers and clerical associates, driving associate engagement and retention.
  • Build high-performing teams by participating in interviewing and hiring transportation personnel, reviewing performance, and delivering disciplinary action as needed.
  • Monitor production goals and maintain a zero-error attitude to ensure accuracy and customer satisfaction.
  • Identify and stop waste, and improve processes to complete work more safely and efficiently.
  • Conduct routine Safety and Driver Meetings, oversee maintenance of driver qualification files, and investigate all accidents.
  • Effectively schedule working shifts by leveraging planning tools, and perform other duties assigned by manager.
Requirements
  • Minimum of three years of experience in transportation/delivery or warehouse distribution required.
  • Minimum of one year of experience overseeing a workforce required.
  • Experience as a driver a plus.
  • Broad knowledge of transportation/delivery operations, methods, and procedures.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and people development skills.
  • Strong understanding of DOT requirements, familiarity with inventory control, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to interpret financial and operational data.
  • Basic computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Office).
Work Environment

This role requires a significant amount of time on the road, with exposure to noise and vibration levels that may be higher than those typically experienced in passenger cars. The role also involves working in an office environment, using a computer.

Travel

10% travel required, typically for mandatory meetings and/or training.

Education/Training

High school diploma or GED required; college degree preferred.
