Job Title: Lead Manufacturing Engineer

Altair is seeking a highly skilled Lead Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in San Diego, CA. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful development and implementation of manufacturing processes for composite and metal components.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement manufacturing instructions for the fabrication, machining, inspection, assembly, and paint of composites and metal components and assemblies.
  • Construct Item Masters (IM's) and bill-of-materials (BoMs) in ERP software.
  • Develop IPD and XOP drawings to assist manufacturing and supply chain in procurement of parts and services.
  • Generate instructions for rework or repair of non-conforming materials.
  • Provide support with engineering clarification and interpretation.
  • Implement redlines to manufacturing plans for correction or clarification.
  • Develop and implement technical solutions for Laminate/Sandwich Composite and Metal Bond processing through lay-up, curing, machining, assembly, and finishing.
  • Generate CAD geometry for CAM programming and tooling.
  • Generate and coordinate Non-Destructive Test (NDT) reference standard manufacturing plans and technique sheets with RW North NDT Level II.
  • Coordinate and communicate with customer or supplier engineering to resolve technical questions or issues.
  • Lead First Part Qualification activities related to composite and metal bond parts.
  • Coordinates to provide technical guidance for continuous improvement activities to improve quality, cost and schedule.
  • Mentor and train less experienced engineers.
Requirements:
  • 10 years knowledge of Boeing manufacturing specifications including (BAC 5514 / BAC 5317), techniques and processes for aircraft components specifically composites fabrication, honeycomb sandwich panel fabrication, metal bonding and assembly.
  • Experience conducting processor qualification activities with Boeing or other OEM required.
  • Experience in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) SAP or Net Suite strongly preferred.
  • Experience with CATIA V or Solidworks CAD & PLM systems.
  • Highly organized with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Solves complex problems and exercises judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.
  • Effective interpersonal, written, and verbal skills to drive tasks to completion.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
