Police Officer

Join the City of Livonia Police Department as a Police Officer and contribute to maintaining a safe and secure community. As a Police Officer, you will be responsible for enforcing laws, protecting citizens, and responding to emergency situations.

• Patrol assigned areas to prevent and detect crime, and to enforce traffic laws and regulations.
• Respond to emergency calls, including accidents, disturbances, and other incidents.
• Investigate crimes, gather evidence, and interview witnesses and suspects.
• Make arrests, serve warrants, and transport prisoners.
• Provide information and assistance to the public, and respond to citizen complaints.
• Participate in community policing initiatives and develop relationships with local businesses and residents.

• Citizen of the United States.
• At least 20 years and 6 months of age.
• High school diploma or GED certificate.
• Associate degree in Law Enforcement or Police Administration, or bachelor's degree in any discipline from an accredited college or university.
• Four years of paid full-time qualified work experience, or equivalent combination of college education and work experience.
• Certified Michigan Police Officer, or certifiable as a Police Officer in the State of Michigan, subject to verification or re-verification by a Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES) approved training academy.
• Normal hearing, normal color vision, and normal visual functions and acuity in accordance with the Civil Service Commission approved visual acuity standard.
• Passing MCOLES physical fitness test (certificate) obtained within the preceding 12 months of the applicant's interview date.
