We are seeking a highly skilled Production Supervisor to oversee the Weld Line operation at our Rail Mill facility. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing, directing, and managing a team of employees to ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective manufacture of high-quality rail products.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain Accurate Payroll Records: Review, edit, and approve employee time cards daily to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Conduct Safety Meetings and Training: Lead shift safety meetings, train employees on safe work practices, and conduct daily safe job observations to promote a culture of safety.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing Principles: Use LEAN tools from the EVRAZ Business System to engage employees in continuous improvement initiatives and optimize mill operations.
- Supervise Shipping and Receiving: Oversee the shipping of finished products and ensure timely delivery to customers.
- Develop and Coach Employees: Develop, coach, and train employees to improve their skills and knowledge, and monitor daily production to identify areas for improvement.
- Maintain Collective Bargaining Agreements and Company Policies: Maintain a good working knowledge of collective bargaining agreements and applicable company policies to ensure compliance and effective management of employees.
- Write and Issue Improvement Action Reports: Write and issue Improvement Action Reports (IARs) as needed to address performance issues and promote continuous improvement.
- Process and Document Grievances: Process and document grievances as the first step in the grievance resolution process to ensure fair and timely resolution.
- Three Years of Steel Manufacturing Experience: Proven experience in steel manufacturing, with a strong understanding of production processes and quality control.
- One Year of Front-Line Supervisory Experience: Demonstrated ability to lead and manage cross-functional teams, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and productivity.
- Knowledge of Rail Manufacturing Processes: Strong knowledge of flash butt welding of rail, sawing, and gag press operations, as well as process troubleshooting and material flow logistics.
- High Mechanical Aptitude: Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot equipment and optimize production processes.
- Excellent Communication Skills: Proven ability to communicate effectively with employees, management, and customers, both verbally and in writing.
- Functional Knowledge of Microsoft Office: Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint to analyze data, create reports, and communicate with stakeholders.
- Ability to Organize and Motivate Teams: Proven ability to organize and motivate production teams to achieve safe, high-quality results and maximum productivity.
- Associates Degree in a Technical Field: Preferred qualification, with a strong focus on technical skills and knowledge.
- Experience with Database Development and Statistical Process Control: Preferred experience with database development, statistical process control, process control, and automation technologies, as well as lean manufacturing principles.
- Strong Time Management Skills: Proven ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to Work in a Fast-Paced Team Environment: Strong ability to work in a fast-paced team environment, with a focus on collaboration, communication, and problem-solving.
- Competitive Salary Range: $75,000 - $90,900 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
