About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned business development expert to lead our California Science Market. As a Market Leader, you will be responsible for driving business growth, building strategic relationships, and developing innovative solutions to elevate healthcare experiences for patients, clinicians, and communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities, develop and execute client relationships, and drive revenue growth for the Science practice.
  • Strategic Leadership: Collaborate with the Science Practice Leadership Team, Client Development Manager, and Market Manager to develop and implement business strategies that align with the practice's and NBBJ's firm-wide vision.
  • Marketing and Communications: Assist in the development of marketing content that strengthens the Science practice image, value propositions, and point of view.
  • Proposal Development: Provide strategy and vision for proposals and interviews with prospective clients to increase win rates.
  • Pipeline Development: Generate a strong pipeline of leads and prospects to increase the Science practice's reach and influence.
  • Practice Profitability: Ensure practice profitability for the Science studio, including meeting annual sales goals and revenue targets, while also meeting marketing budgets.
  • Reputation Building: Advance the Science practice's reputation through conference presentations, journal articles, and social media communications.
Requirements
  • Expertise: Must be an expert in Science design with a deep understanding of NBBJ's work.
  • Business Development: Proven ability to build business and deliver complex Science projects, both interior and core-and-shell design projects, at all scales.
  • Communication: Skilled at viewing the world through the client's lens, with a great communication and storytelling ability.
  • Relationships: Strong relationships and connections with Science clients across the Western United States.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative, open environment.
  • Results-Oriented: Results-oriented, with the ability to independently analyze, synthesize information, and take action.
  • Experience: 15+ years of experience in the design profession with a focus in Science.
  • Certifications: Licensure or equivalent professional certification encouraged, LEED Accreditation encouraged.
