Strategic Leader for California Water Data Consortium

The California Water Data Consortium is seeking a visionary leader to serve as its next Chief Executive Officer.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of strategic planning, programmatic execution, and financial management.
They will oversee and help expand a talented team of professionals, which will manage regular meetings of the Board of Directors and Steering Committee, engage with key partners, and build partnerships to advance open water data.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a spirit of entrepreneurship, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
They will have strong knowledge of data governance and data policy best practices, a track record of implementing sound, achievable projects, and campaigns with measurable outcomes.
Qualified candidates have at least ten (10) years of professional experience, excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to articulate and implement a vision.
They will have significant experience building network-based organizations or coalitions, experience designing and leading a process requiring collaboration and coordination among parties with diverse backgrounds and desired outcomes.
Strong fundraising experience and experience working with various levels of government, nonprofits, and private entities are also essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute the Consortium's strategic plan and develop new strategic plans as needed.
- Oversee and expand the talented team of professionals.
- Manage regular meetings of the Board of Directors and Steering Committee.
- Engage with key partners and build partnerships to advance open water data.
Requirements:
- At least ten (10) years of professional experience.
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to articulate and implement a vision.
- Significant experience building network-based organizations or coalitions.
- Experience designing and leading a process requiring collaboration and coordination among parties with diverse backgrounds and desired outcomes.
- Strong fundraising experience.
- Experience working with various levels of government, nonprofits, and private entities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Sound understanding of protocols and data standards used in natural resources management.
- Extensive knowledge of water resources management and policy.
