Job Description:

Valkyrie Enterprises is seeking a highly skilled Damage Control Firefighting Contractor Instructor to support Surface Warfare Schools Command (SWSC) in San Diego, CA.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide instruction, operation, testing, remediation, curriculum support, administration, safety, and management support services for formalized naval training.
  • Deliver technical and military training, involving instructor services and remediation for DOD personnel, including Navy and Allied Forces officer and enlisted personnel.
  • Support the development and maintenance of curriculum, training aids, and equipment associated with the course.
  • Ensure comprehensive knowledge in the area of safety, shipboard and aircraft fire fighting procedures, and shipboard damage control procedures.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of the Navy Instructor Training Course (CIN: A NEC 9502) or equivalent instructor training course.
  • A minimum of three (3) years technical experience in the subject matter hired to instruct.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a Military Training Environment.
  • Knowledge of learning principles, practices, and methods of presentation and delivery of course content, testing and remediation procedures, curriculum, training aids, devices, electronic podiums, TTE, lab equipment, equipment operation and maintenance procedures associated with the course.
  • Comprehensive knowledge in the area of safety, shipboard and aircraft fire fighting procedures, and shipboard damage control procedures.
  • Must be a former Senior (E5 - E9) Surface Ship Damage Controlman or similar rating.
  • A graduate of at least seven (7) of the following courses:
  1. General Shipboard Fire Fighting Training - Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA)
  2. Shipboard Fire Fighting Integrated Team Trainer
  3. Shipboard Firefighting / Damage Control Emergency Team Member
  4. Shipboard Aircraft Fire Fighting
  5. Air Capable Ship Helicopter Fire Fighting
  6. Advanced Shipboard Fire Fighting
  7. Damage Control Repair Party Team Leader
  8. Shipboard Damage Control Team Trainer
  9. Damage Control Petty Officer
  10. AFFF foam generation
  11. Gas Free Engineering
Desired Qualifications:
  • Navy Damage Controlman (CPO preferred) or Engineering Department Leader (EN, GS, EM, etc.)
  • 9502 Basic Instructor NEC or ATG experience
  • Shipboard firefighting experience
  • Current Basic EMT qualification, or higher
Security Requirements:
  • Must have an Active DoD Secret security clearance and be able to maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
  • Must have a CAC card and maintain a CAC card.
  • Must be able to complete Current Tier 3 background investigation (Secret), and enrolled in Continuous Evaluation.
Travel Requirements:
  • Occasional travel- up to 10%
  • If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID.
Physical Requirements:
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
