Job Summary

Epsilon Systems Solutions, Inc. is seeking a skilled Outside Machinist II to join our team in National City, CA. As a key member of our repair department, you will be responsible for repairing, modifying, or overhauling various types of equipment or systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure strict adherence to corporate, federal, state, and local safety regulations when setting up or operating machinery.
  • Verify that all Epsilon Systems Ship Repair Sector Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) are worn and that all damaged PPE is discarded.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices, including turning off machines when not in use, disposing of waste properly, and sweeping the area.
  • Ensure all tools listed on the "Required Tools List" are available for use within two weeks of employment.
  • Follow detailed repair procedures and instructions, including QA Workbooks, Work Packages, and other guidance provided by management.
  • Perform as a Team Member, cooperating with other trades during installation, modification, or repair operations.
  • Diagnose problems and provide cost-effective recommendations for completing repairs.
  • Perform and/or verify mechanical alignments.
  • Assume responsibility for Level-1 material controls in accordance with Epsilon Systems Ship Repair Sector Instructions.
  • Perform installation, repair, overhaul, or modification in place or in shop to mechanical systems and components.
  • Assist with on-site field service for system grooms and checkouts, minor repairs, and system configuration validation.
  • Prepare and install equipment or system alterations, following directives and instructions.
  • Assist in rigging when necessary.
Requirements:
  • High School/GED/Apprenticeship Diploma/additional vocational courses or technical school graduate; and/or military and/or civilian experience with marine mechanical systems in a repair department or shipyard.
  • 5 years' US Navy experience.
  • Experience performing PMS checks onboard surface ships or submarines.
  • Understanding of US Navy 3M System and associated documentation requirements.
  • Knowledge of trade qualifications and performance as a level II Outside Machinist.
  • Ability to understand and perform basic setup, alignment, and operation of various portable tools and hand tools used in the trade.
  • Working knowledge of shipboard mechanical systems (repair/installation practices, procedures, alignments, and troubleshooting) and blueprint reading.
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments, accurately record readings and measurements, and complete documentation, repair, and testing of equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, work independently or in a group, and perform basic math.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
  • Able to obtain and maintain access to military and government installations and private shipyards worldwide.
  • Ability to travel.
Pay Range:
  • The pay range for this role is $22.11 to $32.13 per hour, a reasonable estimate based on business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications.
ADA Notations:
  • Requires walking, reaching, sitting, and concentration in the presence of occasional noise.
  • Able to move in narrow and restricted passageways, up/down steep and narrow ladders or stairways, and up and down antenna masts/yardarms (onboard ships).
  • Able to lift, carry, and move objects up to 50 lbs. in weight.
  • Must have manual and finger dexterity; able to grasp, manipulate, assemble small objects.
  • Able to perceive and distinguish normal range of colors.
  • May be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves, and steel-toe boots.
