We are looking for an Underwriting Assistant to become a vital part of our Financial Lines division. This role involves reviewing and assessing incoming transactions and associated information to ensure thoroughness, precision, and quality. The Underwriting Assistant will handle multi-line new business submissions, renewal requests, and endorsement processing, which includes rating, policy formulation, and documentation assembly in a prompt and accurate manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Consistently reviews and complies with departmental processing standards and procedures to guarantee accuracy, including suggested modifications and improvements.
- Manage underwriting relationships by providing timely responses to service inquiries.
- Maintain comprehensive correspondence with both internal and external clients, including daily logs on pending transactions.
- Ensure adherence to state regulations concerning cancellations and reinstatements.
- Collect and evaluate underwriting data, including experience reports, final audits, loss control documentation, financial statements, and loss history.
- Ability to manage updates to internal reports as directed by management.
- Engage in peer review and quality assurance for the team as necessary.
- Participate in special projects, including company initiatives, as required.
- A bachelor's degree or relevant professional experience is required.
- Three or more years of experience in underwriting assistance, with specific knowledge in Financial Lines being advantageous.
- Strong understanding of underwriting principles, product-specific coverage, policy forms, pricing methodologies, regulatory compliance, and insurance systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly with advanced skills in Excel.
- Excellent desk management and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to prioritize competing demands and requests to meet deadlines in a high-volume work environment.
- Demonstrate strong analytical capabilities and mathematical skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting while managing multiple deadlines efficiently.
- Self-motivated individual who thrives on independent learning and research.
