Job Summary:

The Senior Manager of Global Tax Planning & Operations will play a critical role within Cohu's Tax Department, reporting to the Director of Global Tax Planning & Tax Operations. This position requires effective collaboration with global teams in remote locations, making strong communication and teamwork skills essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development, maintenance, and application of global transfer pricing policies and calculations, including preparing/reviewing transfer pricing documentation, monitoring intercompany transactions to ensure compliance with transfer pricing policies, and managing outsourced transfer pricing studies.
  • Perform research and analysis to support tax-efficient business decisions related to cross-border transactions, supply chain planning, import/export activities, choice of legal entity, location of legal entities and employees, etc.
  • Assist with M&A transactions and legal entity restructuring projects, including post-acquisition IP ownership and integration activities.
  • Provide tax support to local country controllers and monitor intercompany process flows in relation to different types of intercompany transactions.
  • Assist with global cash repatriation planning, including intercompany loans and distributions.
  • Assist with the management of international tax audits and calculation of FIN 48 reserves for uncertain tax positions reflected in foreign income tax filings.
  • Maintain Cohu's legal entity organization chart.
  • Support the preparation, review, and maintenance of intercompany agreements.
  • Provide support to the U.S. and foreign income tax compliance teams as needed.
  • Research and analyze the impact of tax legislation and regulatory proposals.
  • Perform ad hoc tax planning projects as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or closely related field required; Master's degree in Taxation or JD preferred.
  • CPA preferred, but not required.
  • Combination of private industry and Big 4 background.
  • 8 to 12+ years of corporate tax experience; combination of public accounting and/industry experience, preferably working with multinational public companies.
  • 5 to 8+ years of recent global tax planning and tax operations experience.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP tax accounting principles under ASC 740 and FIN 48.
  • Demonstrated technical understanding of post-TCJA U.S. international tax matters.
  • Excellent project management skills and a demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple competing deliverables and meet deadlines under significant time pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy and self-review.
  • Proven self-starter with a demonstrated ability to work both independently and in collaboration with team members.
  • Strategic thinker and problem solver with history of making decisions that reflect sound business acumen.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; exhibits confidence in critical communications and the ability to influence both internally and externally.
  • Exercises sound judgement in risk-based decision making; exhibits courage in making challenging or unpopular decisions.
  • Sensitive to cultural differences and a variety of communication and learning styles.

Work Location:

This position can be performed from a remote home office in one of the states in which Cohu has operations. Qualified candidates must possess a demonstrated ability to self-direct and work effectively in a remote office environment with minimal supervision.
