We are seeking a highly skilled Diesel Technician to join our team at Ryder System. As a Diesel Technician, you will be responsible for performing vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including routine preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs.
Responsibilities:- Perform standard vehicle maintenance and preventive maintenance tasks
- Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computer tools
- Complete detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision
- Replace defective components as instructed
- Work unsupervised on most tasks and interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints
- Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
- Work in accordance with all federal and corporate compliance guidelines
- Act as a mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
- Demonstrate the ability to access and use internal and external maintenance documents
- Perform other support duties as required to support operations
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Vocational or technical certification or post-secondary degree preferred
- Basic tools required
- Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines
- Routine preventative maintenance, including oil changes, brake and tire work
- Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems
- Three years or more relevant work experience preferred
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred
- All other certification as required by location
- Annual merit pay increases every year
